Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the heart of JCFS, enabling the agency to fulfill its mandate and positively change lives. Volunteers are placed in different programs and initiatives depending on their interests, skills and personal schedules.

Some of the Ways You Can Help

Friendly Visitor

Offer companionship to homebound seniors and help older adults stay independent, healthy and connected to the community.

Grocery Shopper

Help seniors maintain their independence by assisting them with their grocery shopping. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car.

Driver

Transport seniors to and from grocery stores, medical appointments and community events. A Class 5 license is required to transports senior groups in the agency van.

JCFS Youth Mentorship Program

Develop a special relationship with a child who needs a positive adult influence in his or her life. Volunteers must be willing to make a minimum year-long commitment.

Bikkur Cholim (Visiting the Ill)

Visit community members who are ill or isolated and offer them support, companionship and a connection to the community.

Tutor

Help newcomers improve their English conversational skills through one-on-one tutorial sessions.

JCFS Committee Work

Volunteer to sit on a JCFS committee and contribute your expertise to an agency initiative or program.

Occasional Volunteers

Assist with office duties, group programs or events.
