The Asper Empowerment Program
The Asper Empowerment Program is a community-based solution to complex issues around basic needs assistance, skill-building, education, support, and connection.
The Asper Empowerment Program aims to empower and transform the lives of those marginalized by financial and economic challenges. This is done through targeted supports such as basic needs assistance (e.g., food, financial assistance), financial literacy, job skill building, community education, and connection opportunities.
The Asper Empowerment Program promotes transformational individual and communal change. Ways that we achieve this include:
- A variety of community workshops on topics such as budgeting, income tax tips, nutrition, and more
- Targeted education on issues surrounding marginalization and Jewish poverty
- The Asper Helping Hand Initiative: An interest-free loan available to eligible Jewish Manitobans
- Access to healthy kosher food, and specialized Jewish holiday baskets
- Comprehensive financial literacy assistance, including education, basic needs, and advocacy
- Comprehensive employment supports, including job coaching, skill building, and referrals
