Denise Rubin
B.H.Ecol, MACP, CCC

Denise is our Clinical Director. She immigrated to Canada from Argentina at a young age, allowing her to offer sessions in Spanish for those who prefer. She specializes in guiding individuals through trauma, addictions, and other mental health challenges, using a holistic approach that blends evidence-based practices and honours each client’s unique journey.

Trained in EMDR therapy, Denise is committed to creating a safe and supportive space where clients can process their experiences in alternative ways. She integrates mindfulness into her practice, helping clients cultivate self-compassion and inner harmony. Denise takes pride in walking alongside her clients on their path to healing, empowering them to embrace a more fulfilling life.

Brooke Zelcer
BA (Hons)., BSc

Brooke is our full-time Somatic Trauma and Breathwork Counsellor. Her holistic and integrative approach to therapy embraces the interconnectedness of your being—nervous system, mind, body, breath, and soul. She blends a variety of theories and techniques to create a personalized journey toward alignment and healing.

Brooke is passionate about helping you cultivate a deeper relationship with yourself. Through self-knowledge and trust, I believe you can achieve a more balanced and centered state, fostering a greater sense of safety and connection with the world around you. Brooke is here to support clients every step of the way, collaborating and guiding clients towards a path of well-being, connectedness, and personal empowerment.

Penny Yellen
MSW., RSW

Penny’s extensive social work career has included direct service, program planning and administration. For the past twenty years, Penny has been providing individual counseling and group facilitation in Connecticut, where she lived for 22 years, and, in Winnipeg, since returning six years ago.

Penny’s focus is on bereavement counselling, caregiver stress and clients with a variety of personal stressors in their lives.

Brodin Anderson
MA., CPC

Brodin approaches therapy with the belief that clients’ lives contain the necessary ingredients to change, grow and heal themselves and their relationships. Brodin’s role as your counsellor is to create an environment where clients will feel heard and accepted.
From this position, Brodin feels confident that clients will be able to identify the patterns that are holding them back or causing pain, looking forward to supporting clients in overcoming them.

Shayna Wilhelmer
MA., CPC

Shayna joins JCFS as a counsellor, bringing a therapeutic style rooted in meeting clients where they are and helping them grow into their true, authentic selves. Shayna approaches her work with empathy and expertise, guiding clients as they explore and develop techniques and coping skills that resonate with them. She strives to create non-judgmental spaces where clients feel comfortable and safe, enabling genuine self-growth. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Social Work degree, specializing in the clinical realm of the field. Shayna is thrilled to join JCFS and continue pursuing her passion for supporting individuals in improving their mental health and overall well-being.
